Meghan Trainor Wrapping Up Work On Her “Big” Second Album

Hate her or love her – you can’t deny that Meghan Trainor has been one of pop’s biggest breakout stars this year. Whether you like it or not, Meghan isn’t going anywhere anytime soon. In fact, she’s aiming to return at the top of the year with a new single and a new album!

Despite all her appearances around the world for ‘Title’, a string of nationwide tours, some serious vocal surgery, and a pretty sweet gig with The Peanuts Move, the ‘Dear Future Husband’ singer still found the time to work on her follow up to ‘Title’. According to Meghan, she’s beginning to wrap up work on the album and aims to release it in the first quarter of next year.

I’m wrapping up the second album and it’s pretty special. I can’t wait for the world to hear it. It’s very new and different, but it sounds like me. I’ve got a lot to say!

New and different? Are we losing that doo-wop sound that Meghan has made her signature flavor? Will she be diving into more of an R&B sound a la her latest hit ‘Like I’m Gonna Lose You’? Turns out she’s turned to some of the greats in order to get inspired for LP #2.

I wanted to go big, I wanted to get all my influences in there and show everything from my caribbean side to my love for Bruno Mars and Aretha Franklin and even some Elvis vibes, anyone I grew up listening to. I was trying to show the world what I love. I wanted to do something that’s not on the radio, but kind of different.

Hm. Not on the radio, you say? Well, that sounds like a pretty farfetched statement – so we’ll take that with a grain of salt – but the rest of what Meghan is saying sounds like she’s channeling a more soulful vibe this time around. It seems like she’s aiming for a slightly more mature, more polished sound for her sophomore record.

As for who she’s worked with, Meghan has revealed to FUSE that she has reunited with Kevin Kadish in the studio and shared with MTV that she’s worked with R City and someone near and dear to her heart – her mom! Isn’t that sweet?

Meghan has also said she’s looking at a February or March release date for her forthcoming album, so we should be expecting a single sometime in January from M Train. Y’all ready for round two?
