New Single: Pitbull ft. Robin Thicke, Joe Perry, Travis Barker – Bad Man
Let’s call a spade a spade here: Pitbull is struggling lately. The criminally underrated ‘FREE.K’ failed to catch on and ‘Freedom’ isn’t doing any better. At The GRAMMYs, Pitbull is scheduled to take the stage with Robin Thicke, Joe Perry, and Travis Barker to perform…something. We never knew what that song was until now. Turns out, Pitbull had a new song up his sleeve – ‘Bad Man’ – that features all three artists.
We’re a bit conflicted. On the one hand, it’s very refreshing for Pitbull to leave the dance floor behind and embrace a different sound. Something a bit more organic – slightly pop/rock. On the other, turning to Robin Thicke? Pit, that ain’t gonna help you get back on the charts.
‘Bad Man’ isn’t bad. It’s a fine song that will help him stick out and definitely get a boost from The GRAMMYs. Has Pitbull long overdue for a sonic overhaul? Yes. Is this the direction he should have gone into? Perhaps. ‘Timber’ gave him his last hit and that was predominately country driven.
There’s a lot of energy going on here, so that’s definitely working in his favor. Other than that, we’re not sure how to take this. Does Pitbull (finally) have a hit on his hands again?
