POPTalk: The GRAMMYs, The Oscars, & #FreeKesha
There’s been a lot of big things happening in the world of pop music this month, y’all. Have you been keeping up with the latest news? If not, let’s bring you up to speed in this week’s episode of POPTalk.
The 58th Annual GRAMMYs aired on February 15th and…well, they weren’t that good. If you followed along with us on Twitter during the show, you’ll know that we were as bored as you were.
However, with the bad comes the good. The evening wasn’t an entire tragedy. Some of the tributes were on point (Lionel Richie’s and David Bowie’s) and there was at least one performance that we could categorize as a true GRAMMY performance. Are you eager to see our full list of highlights and lowlights from GRAMMY night?
Besides (briefly) covering the GRAMMYs this week, we discuss the three big pop artists nominated for an Oscar Best Original Song from a Motion Picture: Lady Gaga, The Weeknd, and Sam Smith. There’s a lot of star power in that category, but only one can take home the gold. Who should? Who absolutely should not? Who probably will?
And finally, we give our reactions on Kesha’s unfortunate ruling in her attempts to get her career back on track. Beyond that, we also explore her next move and what her comeback will ultimately look and sound like.
