New Track: M.I.A. – ‘MIA OLA/FOREIGN FRIEND’

It’s a good week to be an M.I.A. fan. Just one day after the premiere of Baauer’s ‘Temple’, M.I.A. has unleashed a dual song on SoundCloud for her fans.

The new track is a two for one deal, but fall in line with M.I.A.’s knack for tying in the world’s biggest political issues into her music. The first half – called ‘MIA OLD’ – samples The Lion King‘s ever-famous ‘Circle of Life’ and captures the feeling of living life on the U.S. and Mexican border. It’s the sharpest we’ve heard the Sri Lankan rapper in a while – a total banger, through and through. The second half of the song – ‘Foreign Friend’ – keeps the momentum going and brings M.I.A. into a more Middle Eastern vibe as she boosts about reminding those that she is an “immigrant”.

Both piece of the song are very solid and make the wait for her next record that much harder. Are you ready for ‘Matahdatah’?
