Carly Rae Jepsen Has Begun Writing For The Follow Up To ‘E•MO•TION’
Sorry to break it to you guys – but it looks like Carly Rae Jepsen is beginning to move on from the ‘E•MO•TION‘ era. Grant it, she still has the ‘Boy Problems’ music video to release and a hand full of dates on her Gimme Love Tour left – but it looks like Carly was been slowly working on the follow up to her critically (and gay) acclaimed LP.
During an interview with NYLON, Carly revealed that she’s begun the writing process on tour for her next record:
Part of me is just really excited about this tour because I don’t think I’ve been able to properly celebrate E•MO•TION. This Gimmie Love tour feels like it’s been a long time coming and I love embracing the last three years of hard work and enjoying it. That doesn’t mean I’m not still thinking about future projects and what I want to write next. I’m constantly writing for that and curious about where I’ll be taken with that exploration.
Now, just because Carly is currently writing while she’s on the road doesn’t mean that we’ll be hearing a new album anytime soon or that ‘E•MO•TION’ is really done for. It seems like she’s had a lot of freedom during this era despite its commercial underperformance. She could have plans for a few more music videos and television appearances. Maybe she’ll go on another tour this summer? After all, she claims the most productive place for her to write is when she’s on the road.
You don’t have the mundane house chores and obligations that you have if you’re just in one place, or distractions I think you would have if you’re in studio mode at home. It really does allow for this sort of freedom of creativity, because there’s not much else to focus on other than the song. I feel like that’s a really good place to be at if you’re going to try and make something creative.
It’s ok, guys. It’s sad to see one of your favorite eras end, but Carly tapped into something special with ‘E•MO•TION’ and it’s safe to say that she’s aware of its impact. A part two could be interesting…are y’all open to that?
