Zara Larsson To Release Her Album In September, Performs ‘Never Forget You’ On The Today Show
Can we officially dub Zara Larsson the “it girl” of 2016? Is it too soon? No, it’s not – and you know what- it’s a fact. Zara is everywhere these days: the radio, television, dozens of countries around the world.
When you’re the new “it girl”, everyone wants to know what’s next. Thankfully, we have a little bit of an idea what’s next. After a string of international hits and one that is still blowing up in the States, Zara has her focus on her album. What can we expect from the set? In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Zara reveals that she has plans to crank out some songs with Max Martin very soon and that MNEK has lended his talents beyond ‘Never Forget You’
[MNEK] is probably one of the most talented people I’ve worked with…We wrote a great song, and [we wrote] a lot of songs after that. [They’re] more dancey, but also more chill. [There’s] even a mid-tempo, slow song. He’s still got that MNEK sound.
I think we just vibe really well on a personal level. We’re not afraid to speak our minds, and when people are not afraid to speak their mind, that’s when you create magic. We don’t really criticize each other; we just let each other flow.
I’m hopefully going to work with [Max Martin] when I come back to L.A. When I was there, he was like, “Frankly, I don’t really have the time for you right now” because he was finishing up Ariana [Grande]’s album and finishing up a few songs from The Weeknd’s album, which I respect, because he was like, “I want to give you my full attention, and if I have other projects I’m thinking about, I can’t do that. I don’t want to run in and out of the session — five minutes here, five minutes there — just to put my name on it.” He’s super sweet.
Zara also let it slip that her album is slated for a
June release! Only two months away. It sounds like she has quite a few pop dynamos in her corner and ‘Never Forget You’ is just the tip of the iceberg. At the end of this year, could we be looking at Zara as the year’s biggest pop star? We don’t want to assume anything, but…it sure looks like it’s being set up that way.

Originally slated for a June release, it looks like some great studio sessions have pushed the album back to September. Fingers crossed it’s those Max Martin ones!
