New Track: Wiz Khalifa & Juicy J ft. Liam Payne – ‘You’

The post-One Direction milestones have been interesting. Harry Styles is apparently attached to a action-war picture, Zayn quietly released his debut solo album, and Liam Payne has been linked to Cheryl Cole and…Juicy J?

For months, the talk has been that Liam is focusing on an R&B/hip-hop influenced solo career (not unlike Zayn’s, mind you) with Juicy J being his mentor. We’ve all rolled our eyes at the idea – but it seems like there was some truth to it. Turns out, Liam sings the hook on a song called ‘You’ from Juicy’s upcoming joint mixtape with Wiz Khalifa.

Produced by TM88, ‘You’ is pretty solid…like surprisingly pretty solid. Once you block out that obnoxious Kill Bill whistling sample, you’re greet with what could possibly be the best move someone from One Direction could have made after the band. Grant it, we still question the motives behind a hip-hop inspired sound for Liam; but he seems to fit right in between Juicy’s and Wiz’s weed and sex laced verses. His vocals have never been sweeter and introducing his “new sound” as a hook singer vs. a solo track is the smartest thing he could have done.

Who knew a young English lad could vibe well with two of the biggest names in rap?

In a surprising twist, Liam confirms that this is just a demo that contains his vocals. Hm…what goes on?

Lmfao if you think that nasally autotune on his vocals is ‘good’ then I don’t even know what to say

Honey, if it’s a rough demo – odds of autotune being on the vocals is slim to none.
