Video Premiere: Ariana Grande – ‘Into You’
Everyone is counting on Ariana Grande’s new single ‘Into You’ to take her to the top of the charts and become one of the biggest songs of the summer. After, what we would call, a safe performance of the Max Martin masterpiece on the Billboard Music Awards, the ‘Dangerous Woman’ song has gone and dropped the music video for her sexually charged track.
Directed by Hannah Luxe Davis, the ‘Into You’ music video places Ariana and her bad boy on a joyride into the desert where they find themselves in a place only they can share: a run-down, beat up motel. Towards the end of the video, we find out Ari’s boy toy isn’t hers at all. She’s in the midst of a high profile relationship with another celebrity and the guy we saw her with throughout the video is nothing but a security guard.
Now. Davis really shot a visually stunning video and Ariana looks fantastic. The biggest problem with the visual is that it borderlines sexy and never fully commits to the exact message the song pushes. What would have done the trick was place what we found out in the end at the beginning, show Ariana and the security guard escape, and go on a rendezvous of their own a la Katy Perry’s ‘Teenage Dream’ video or Britney Spears’ ‘Criminal’ music video. But alas, we weren’t in charge of this video’s concept.
