Shawn Mendes, Nick Jonas, Alessia Cara, Fifth Harmony, & More Perform At The 2016 iHeartRadio MMVAs
The Much Music Awards took place last night in Toronto and had quite the makeover! With iHeartRadio infiltrating Canadian media, the global radio platform teamed up with MUCH to rebrand the show to celebrate iHeart’s new home.
As usual, the award show was filled with international and Canadian talent taking the stage throughout the night. From Macklemore & Ryan Lewis, to Desiigner’s Canadian debut, to the television premiere of Shawn Mendes’ new single ‘Treat You Better’, and Fifth Harmony’s closing performance, the night was filled with high energy performances.
Still – some performances were better than others. The sound of Macklemore & Ryan Lewis opening up the MMVAs was cringeworthy, but by the time they were done performing their new single ‘Dance Off’ we couldn’t help but want to get on stage and battle against Amber Rose.
Alessia Cara gave thundering, drum heavy rendition of ‘Wild Things’ and you felt Shawn Mendes’ career soar to new heights as he nailed the first performance ever of ‘Treat You Better’.
Unfortunately, Fifth Harmony felt the need to out sing each other during their entire performance and caused quite the distraction (ladies, fans want to follow along when you sing, not guess who will go off-key next) and Desiigner….nuff’ said.
We will say this, it was very refreshing to see a variety of different genres represented last night. Other award shows, take note!
