Introducing: June’s Diary
If y’all have been tuning into BET’s Chasing Destiny for the past few months, you’ll know that Kelly Rowland has made it her mission to create a girl group in the veins of Destiny’s Child.
A few weeks ago, the members of the group were announced but the band was still lacking a name. This week, all of the details have been revealed surround the latest girl group on the scene and what they’re about to bring to the table.
The group goes by the name June’s Diary and their debut single is called ‘L.A.N.C.E.’. So what does ‘L.A.N.C.E.’ stand for? Allow the girls to educate you with the single’s hook
I don’t want L.A.N.C.E./Don’t want no lying ass ni**a cheating everyday
And really that’s what the song is all about! Over a urban influenced beat, the girls educate the men out there on how to treat a female and let girls in on the secrets that will help them keep their men in line.
It’s a great starting point for a group that could have a lot of success further down the road. Their voices complement each other more than any other girl group out there right now, but the question of crossover success comes into play. ‘L.A.N.C.E’ is, by far, too urban to crossover into pop – but that doesn’t mean these girls can’t do it at some point later this year.
