Beyonce, Adele, Drake, Justin Bieber, and Kanye West Nominated For Video Of The Year At The 2016 VMAs

It’s about that time again. MTV is due to host their annual Video Music Awards in New York City on August 28th and virtually nothing has been mentioned about the award show as we head into the last few weeks before the stars flock to Madison Square Garden for the evening.

Luckily (depending on the way you look at it), MTV has revealed their nominations for The 2016 MTV VMAs. Any guesses on who’s racked up the most nominations this year?

Beyonce and Adele! They were the two biggest female artists of the past year; so the fact that they have 11 and 8 nominations, respectively, isn’t too much of a shock.

What is surprising? Well, Ariana Grande nabbing four nominations for a rather drab music video for ‘Into You’. Who let this one happen? Hey, if it gets Ariana a chance to perform the smash at the show – we’ll take it. (Side note: ‘Let Me Love You’ tossed in the Best Collaborative Video category – unexpected.)

Elsewhere, we’re shocked to see Kanye West mentioned for Video Of The Year for ‘Famous’, the fact that ‘Can’t Feel My Face’ is still getting recognized, Zara Larsson nominated for Best New Artist, and Calvin Harris nominated for Best Male Video for ‘This Is What You Came For – a video that prominently features a female!

It’ll be another interesting year that hopefully isn’t too yawn inducing (who are we kidding?). Who are you looking forward to scooping up a Moonman this year at the VMAs?
