Britney Spears Performs Her Hits At The 2016 iHeartRadio Festival
The time has come once again where dozens of music’s top acts from all genres flock to the desert to perform at one of the biggest music festivals of the year – the iHeartRadio Festival.
This year was no exception when it came to the pool of star power that hit up the Strip. Everyone from U2 to Miley Cyrus to Sting and Ariana Grande provided show stopping entertainment for the fans who have now made it a yearly trip to catch radio’s hottest concert.
The one surprise throughout the whole weekend was Britney Spears’ presence as the opening act for night two. Infamous for her disdain of promo, Britney kicked things off with a set list that packed old hits with new music for a performance that acted as reminder of what a force she can be.
Throughout the entire 30 minute set, Britney couldn’t have been having a better time. Keeping things strictly about the music and only speaking to the crowd twice, Britney breezed through the crowd during a shortened version of ‘Work Bitch’ before kicking into a high powered version of ‘Womanizer’. ‘Do You Wanna Come Over?’ made an appearance – and was truly a highlight from the whole set – as well as her love of dancing with the Missy Elliott medley that has become a staple in Piece Of Me.
Instead of classics like ‘…Baby One More Time’ and ‘Oops…I Did It Again’, Britney threw fans a curve ball by performing ‘Stronger’ and ‘Crazy’ before ending things with ‘I’m A Slave 4 U’ and hooking up with G-Eazy once again to perform ‘Make Me…’.
As a Britney fan, you couldn’t ask for anything more. She was happy, she was playful, and she pulled out all the stops to make sure she started the evening off right. The pyro was reminiscent of some of her older shows, the dancing was solid and fresh for a handful of numbers, and even some of the visuals from her residency made it to the venue.
All in all, another check in the plus column for Britney Spears this year. Now, off to the Apple Music Festival in London…
