Little Mix Debut Their New Single ‘Shout Out To My Ex’ On The X Factor
It sounded like a match made in heaven. After becoming one of the most successful acts from The X Factor, Little Mix returned home today to premiere their new single, aptly titled ‘Shout Out To My Ex’.
When it comes to new material, Little Mix have that yearly release on lock. So it was only a matter of time before their foursome graced us with new music.
How new is their sound for LM4? Well, the chatter is that ‘Shout Out To My Ex’ is nearly identical to GRL’s ‘Ugly Heart’ and the resemblance is simply undeniable. Shame on the producers to literally swiping the same melody and arrangement from another girl group, but the good news is Little Mix do it better than GRL ever did.
Do we really need to go there with the song’s concept and theme? If you’re in tune with these girl’s high profile relationships, you have a pretty good idea who these lyrics are aimed it.
This is a shout out to my ex/Heard he in love with some other chick/Yeah yeah, that hurt me, I’ll admit/Forget that boy, I’m over it/I hope she gettin’ better sex/Hope she ain’t fakin’ it like I did, babe/Took four long years to call it quits/Forget that boy, I’m over it
The best thing about ‘Ex’ is that they’re keeping in line with the poppier sound that they introduced on ‘Get Weird’. That record opened them up to a lot of new fans and they never sounded better. Happy to see they’re keeping the momentum going. Fingers crossed they can finally crack the U.S. this time around.
